  • Support Worker

    Inspire Support Services is a disability services provider based in Prospect Vale, Tasmania.

    At the present time, we are looking for a Support Worker who is compassionate, capable and has what it takes to deliver to a high standard.

    About The Role

    The successful candidate will also be passionate, eager to assist, be willing to learn as they provide support and care to a number of clients in any one day.

    Tasks For This Role Include:

    • Assisting with personal hygiene and dressing.
    • Cooking meals and preparing meals with clients.
    • Doing laundry and cleaning.
    • Performing light house duties such as dusting, vacuuming, window washing.
    • Monitoring medication needs.
    • To successfully communicate and listen to clients in order to provide emotional support.
    • Organised, you will assist in keeping records of client data.
    • Helps clients to actively participate in hobbies and other activities.
    • The ability to communicate well written/verbal in order to provide clients’ families with progress updates and to help educate them on how to best support the client.
    • The ability to work as part of a team and on your own when required.
    • Patience is required to support clients emotionally when and where required.
    • Problem solving skills, to respond to unpredictable issues or challenges in a professional and respectful manner.
    • The ability to administer first aid and CPR should it be required.

    Qualifications Needed
    To be successful for this role, the following disability support courses and qualifications are required:

    • Certificate III in Individual Support.
    • Cert III Individual Support in Disability (Community Services, Disability Work) or at least be working towards.

    You may also be asked to ensure you have the following:

    • An Australian driver’s license and vehicle to transport clients to and from their home (vehicle insured).
    • First aid certificate, including CPR.
    • Current WWVP card.
    • A police check.

    At the present time, we are looking for an experienced Support Professional who is compassionate, capable and has what it takes to deliver to a high standard.

    About The Role

    The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care and assistance to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Being dedicated, you will use your experience of working with developmentally disabled adults and children gained in a similar role to make a difference to the lives of our clients.

    Experience Essential for this role

    • Ability to form strong and trusting relationships with clients.
    • Experience of creating care plans for clients based on their unique needs.
    • Ability to communicate and listen to clients in order to provide emotional support.
    • Provide practical support be completing household tasks.
    • Accompanying clients to healthcare and medical appointments, including medication organisation and supervision where required.
    • Organised, you will assist in keeping records of client data.
    • Assisting clients to learn life skills etc, such as budgets and undertaking household chores.
    • Helps clients to actively participate in hobbies and other activities.
    • The ability to communicate well written/verbal in order to provide clients’ families with progress updates and to help educate them on how to best support the client.
    • The ability to work as part of a team and on your own when required.
    • Collaboration with support co-ordinators and healthcare professionals.

    Qualifications Needed
    To be successful for this role, the following disability support courses and qualifications are required:

    • Certificate III in Individual Support (Home & Community).
    • Certificate IV in Individual Support (Disability).
    • Dual Certificate III in Individual Support & Certificate IV  .

    In addition to the above, it would be desirable, but not essential for you to also have:

    • Cert III Individual Support in Disability (Community Services, Disability Work) or similar.

    You may also be asked to ensure you have the following:

    • A first aid certificate.
    • Current WWVP card.
    • A police check.
    • A NDIS worker screening check.
    • Completed NDIS orientation module.
    • Infection control training (COVID-19 management).
    • Smart phone
